Buddy Holly Plane Crash - Exactly 50 years ago on February 3rd 1959, 3 legends of Music, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson, as well as the pilot, Roger Peterson, died in a plane accident. The plane crash occurred at 01:00 AM near Clear Lake, Iowa, United States killed the three popular American rock and roll musicians. The bad weather conditions as well as the lack of experience of the pilot, Roger Peterson, are at the origin of the accident. The plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, was crushed in a field. This tragic accident was at the origin of a song tribute 1971 American Pie. Its author, the American Song writer and Singer Don McLean, he refers there as “The day when the music died” "But February made me shiver" The entire song is a tribute to Buddy Holly and a commentary on how rock and roll changed in the years since his death.
